Here we are, one of my two favorite songs from this album, and overall. I'm not sure which is my favorite, Parasomnia or Bright Future, but I think maybe this one just because it sounds pretty? They're both pretty even for me though, and Bright Future probably should have the win since it's the longest song I've written and it's cool as fuck, but idk man, the instrumental here is so unique and is definitely a direction I want to try to go more in, so it's winning me over.
Original FAWM Commentary:
I wrote this song at 3 in the morning. I knew what sound I wanted to go with, and I knew I wanted the song to be around 2 minutes, so I just played with it until it sounded right. And then I guess it just naturally turned into a song about all the stuff I think about when I should be sleeping, because I should've been sleeping but instead I was writing a song.
I almost didn't call this song "Parasomnia" because there's an Angels & Airwaves song called "Parasomnia" but parasomnia is actually a thing, and it fits the song thematically, so there you go.
I'm really happy with how this turned out.
lyrics
In the night I stay up so late
That I just don't know what to do.
But I'm working and kinda happy
And I swear I'm not avoiding you.
But I think I'm hated by everyone.
But I know it's not true 'cause my brain is dumb.
Yet I somehow keep forgetting
All the things that I should know.
I'm so tired of all of this,
I wish I could let it go.
But I don't know if I can now,
'Cause it's been so long since then.
But I do know, I'm not stupid,
That's just my brain talking again.
So I think I'm hated by everyone.
But I know it's not true 'cause my brain is dumb.
At least I'd like to think
That's the case but I'm not sure
'But I don't want my fears to come true
I don't know who I can trust.
